Our Service

Are you interested in starting your own Open Access journal or a series of Open Access conference papers? Or are you looking for an Open Access platform for an existing publication? The Universitätsbibliothek Mannheim offers researchers at the University of Mannheim with Open Journal Systems (OJS) a platform for the publication of Open Access journals or series.

Using OJS software, you can manage the entire process online, from article submission and peer review to the presentation on the journal’s website. The University Library will support you.

Configuration and technical operation of the journal

  • The University Library undertakes the configuration and implementation of the journal layout in accordance with your specifications
  • The University Library ensures the technical maintenance of the system.
  • OJS is installed with all data on the servers of the University of Mannheim.

Introduction to the software and ongoing support

  • The University Library introduces you to the software at the outset.
  • You will receive training material.
  • The Publishing Services team will answer your questions and assist you with any problems during operation.

Advice on organizational questions relating to the publication of journals

  • You will receive a checklist with the most important information on the publication of journals.
  • The University Library guides and supports you during the preparation and setup of your journal.

Registration and long-term archiving

  • The University Library handles the DOI registration of the articles.
  • The University Library registers the ISSN of your journal.
  • The University Library organizes long-term archiving by forwarding the articles to the German National Library.

Distribution of the publication

  • The University Library ensures that metadata are forwarded at the journal and article level: for example to Google Scholar, the German National Library, library catalogs, DOAJ, Sherpa/Romeo, CrossRef, WorldCat, KVK and BASE.

This service is free of charge for you. Please mind the terms of use. Content responsibility remains entirely with the editorial board.
